Specialized Care & Grooming

PawFam Pet Care is a mother–daughter (and best-friend) team built on a lifetime of hands-on animal care. We don’t just “love pets” — we’ve lived it, worked in it, and built our lives around it. From veterinary medicine to animal science to grooming, our goal is simple: treat every pet like family, and give you true peace of mind while you’re away.

Meet the Team

Cara is Karen’s daughter and basically grew up in a tiny zoo (the fun kind). Karen often brought home animals who needed extra help, so Cara learned early how to care for pets with big personalities, special needs, and everything in between—alongside growing up with multiple dogs and horses.

In high school, Cara attended the Center for Arts & Technology Pickering Campus, where she studied Animal Science. Nearly all of her after-school jobs involved animal care—from mucking horse stalls to assisting veterinary technicians. She carried that passion into college, working part-time at an emergency veterinary hospital for 4.5 years, which taught her how to stay calm, observant, and steady when animals need extra support.

And when it’s cold, icy, or snowing? Cara’s got you. As a former National Guard Sergeant with a 4x4 Jeep, she’s the steady, dependable type you can count on to keep your pet’s routine on track.

Cara can’t wait to meet you—and to make your pet feel safe, loved, and right at home.

Rachel is our grooming pro with 14+ years of experience and a whole lot of heart. After attending the PetSmart Grooming Academy (trained in both dog and cat grooming), she’s spent the last 14+ years primarily grooming cats and dogs—everything from tiny puppy trims to full cat grooms for your most adorable, cuddly companion. She’s also shared her knowledge by teaching grooming school at Personal Touch Pet Care in Exton, PA.

Cara and Rachel met at CAT Pickering High School in animal science and helped pilot a 4-H program showing pigs, goats, and cattle—so yes, we’re the kind of people who can handle a wiggly pup and a stubborn goat.

Rachel’s background is also rooted in veterinary care: Rachel worked at Rogers Ford Veterinary Hospital as a vet tech assistant, and attended Manor College in Jenkintown for veterinary technology.

Over the years, she’s groomed with some fantastic teams—including Wagsworth Manor in Malvern and Harley’s Hounds Mobile Grooming Salon out of Pottstown—and she’s excited to bring that experience to your home when you have the right setup.

Rachel can’t wait to meet you—and to get to know your furry best friend!

Karen is the calm, capable heart of PawFam. She’s been a veterinary technician for over 20 years (and still works at a clinic today), so she’s seen just about everything—and she brings that steady confidence to every visit. If your pet needs medications, extra monitoring, senior support, or has special medical needs, Karen can handle it with skill and kindness.
